As featured in Legal Practice Intelligence, the Projects team at Huon IT has implemented an innovative hybrid cloud solution for McCabe Terrill Lawyers.

Utilising Citrix technology and a NetApp SAN, the project consolidated McCabe’s system from 15 physical servers in two rooms, to just one small space with half the rack size.

The on-premise private cloud is complimented with Disaster Recovery as a Service in the public cloud, offering scalability, efficiency and complete redundancy in the event of downtime.

The transformation project has empowered the firm’s in-house IT better manage their systems, with IT Manager Brad Allen stating “Thanks to Huon IT, we’ve dramatically reduced our administration overhead and energy costs, and now have industry-leading disaster recovery procedures in place. Before it could have taken days to get up and running in the event of system failure. Now we can do it in one hour.”

Huon IT’s sponsored boat “Huey II” set sail in its first official race this weekend.

Skippered by our CEO, Damian Huon, the crew sailed Pittwater on the Melges 24 for the one design East Coast Championship Regatta.

Appropriately named after Huey, “the God of Surf”, the boat hit the waves in style with a 20 knot sea breeze and beautiful sunny day.

The crew looks forward to its next competition; the NSW State Challenge in Port Macquarie later this month. Good luck!

 

 

On Sunday 28th August, a group of Huon IT staff and their partners ran in the Pub2Pub Fun Run. The course was 13km; starting with a tough sand run at Dee Why Beach, and ending for a well deserved drink (or two) at the Newport Arms.

Thanks to our generous supporters, we raised $6615.00 for the Children's Cancer Institute Australia. These funds will help this independent institute continue vital research into the causes and treatment of children's cancer.

Huon IT was honoured to sponsor the Day of Difference Charity Tournament at Terry Hills Golf & Country Club on 15^th March, 2011. Alongside partner NetApp and various other generous sponsors, we helped raise over $100 000 for the foundation. Founded by the Delezio family, this worthy cause helps children with life threatening injuries and their families on their road to recovery.

The day was capped off by a win for the Huon IT team, finishing first on the leader board and receiving trophies from the Delezio family pictured below.

One of the most valuable aspects of our operation is the long term relationships we build with our clients. While we're always in touch on a regular basis, if there’s a chance to go out and have some fun with our customers we never say no – whether it be a game of golf, watching the rugby or even a few drinks.

Last week our Managing Director, Damian Huon, and Senior Consultant, Hamish McKinlay, enjoyed a surf at Newport’s Bungan Beach with MercerBell’s Operations Director, Paul Henderson, and Digital Studio Manager, Scott Forrester. The group met at Huon IT’s Belrose office so Paul and Scott could take a ‘behind the scenes’ look at how our consultants monitor and support their systems, before heading down to the water for an afternoon surf.

We understand our clients often need to log in from home after hours, or may be travelling overseas where different time zones prove difficult when you need support the most. Therefore Huon IT is happy to announce we have extended our opening hours, with our helpdesk now available until 2am each business day.

 

This nightshift compliments our already extensive hours of operation, meaning we are now open from 6am – 2am Monday to Friday. A trial over the past few months has proved very successful, with our consultants supporting clients all over the world; London, Copenhagen, Washington DC, and of course right here in Sydney.
