Recently signing off on a project to virtualize their environment, this transformation will consolidate their entire IT system from 20 servers to just one HP Blade Enclosure and NetApp Storage device. Not only will this reduce their IT’s physical footprint and power/cooling costs, it provides greater flexibility through virtualised servers and improved performance via upgraded hardware, with benefits extending to both Sydney and Melbourne users.

Huon IT is proud to welcome two new members to our expanding team; Jackie Orchard joins us as a dedicated Project Manager to oversee and coordinate major projects, and Liz Edwards as a Business Development Consultant. Their wealth of experience brings a wide range of capabilities to Huon IT, and will lead to increased efficiency and enhanced customer service.

We are pleased to announce that after a two month tendering process, Huon IT has been selected as MAp's IT provider.

MAp is one of the world's largest private airport owners with a core portfolio of three major airports - Sydney, Copenhagen and Brussels and a long term strategic investment in Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste de Mexico S.A.B de C.V. in Mexico. Huon IT has been selected to design and deploy a new IT environment for MAp following its separation from the Macquarie Group, including networks for offices in both Sydney and London, a complete disaster recovery solution, and to provide ongoing IT support.

Huon IT has successfully virtualised Marsdens Law Group's server room from two full size towers to just one half height rack, consolidating 15 servers into one enclosure. This was achieved using Citrix XenServer software, a NetApp SAN and HP Blade technology. Not only did it dramatically decrease the physical footprint of their servers resulting in reduced power and cooling costs, it has increased the reliability and speed of Marsdens' network, while delivering a dynamic computing environment with a high degree of agility and significant ROI.

After months of research and intensive training in courses such as the Storage Architect Program, Huon IT's technical consultants and sales team have achieved NetApp Gold Partner Status accreditation. NetApp is a world leader in unified storage solutions for businesses of all sizes and industries, and Huon IT is now fully accredited to implement these solutions for our clients. We now also have a full SAN and Blade environment in our office for demonstration purposes, with the ability to copy an entire data set on to our SAN and demonstrate its capabilities such as data consolidation, deduping, security and more.
